Rumtek Monastery

The seat of the Kagyu sect of Buddhism, Rumtek is vast and wealthy. It houses the Golden Stupa containing the relics of the 16th Karmapa.

The architecture is Tibetan style. Monks debating in the courtyard is a common sight. The peace here is palpable.
