Loktak Lake Boating
About this activity
Loktak is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, famous for its 'Phumdis'—circular floating islands made of vegetation and soil. Fishermen live on these islands in huts.
Keibul Lamjao, located on the lake, is the world's only floating national park and home to the endangered Sangai deer (dancing deer). A boat ride through the maze of phumdis, especially at sunset, is surreal.
It feels like a water world that defies geography.
